Description

Lok Satta started as a citizen movement,LokSatta Andolana or Lok Satta Movement, in Andhra Pradesh andlaterspread across the country, including Mumbai, with the VoteJUHU andVote Mumbai campaigns. It also played a major role in theJaago Re!One Billion Votes. The Lok Satta organization worked onbringingabout several political reforms by working with othercivicorganizations. Lok Satta Party was founded with therealizationthat entering into politics is the only option to bringaboutfundamental changes in the system and a newpoliticalculture.[citation needed] It grew rapidly, amassing over30,000members in the Greater Hyderabad region and over 60,000members inAndhra Pradesh before it became a political party.
Lok Satta Party is now present in several other Indianstates,including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi,andMaharashtra.
