Kishore Kumar (4 August 1929 – 13 October1987)was an Indian film playback singer, actor, lyricist,composer,producer, director, and screenwriter. He is consideredone of themost successful playback singers of the Hindi filmindustry. Apartfrom Hindi, he sang in many Indian languagesincluding Bengali,Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri,Malayalam, Odia, andUrdu. He has also sung in private albums inseveral languagesespecially in Bengali which are noted as all timeclassics. He won 8Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singerand holds the recordfor winning the most Filmfare Awards in thatcategory. He wasawarded the "Lata Mangeshkar Award" by the MadhyaPradesh governmentand from that year onwards, the Madhya PradeshGovernment initiateda new award called the "Kishore Kumar Award"for contributions toHindi cinema.
