The 15th night of Shabaan is a very blessed night. Accordingtothe Hadith Shareef, the name of this Mubarak night is"NisfShabaan" which means 15th night of Shabaan. The reason forthisspecial night to attain its name of Laylatul Baraa'ah, meaningtheNight of Salvation, Seeking Freedom from Azaab and Calamity,isthat in this night the Barkaat and acceptance of repentance maybeaccomplished. Laylatul Baraa'ah in Persian, as well as in Urdu,iscalled Shabbe Baraat.

On this night, Muslims perform Nawaafil, recite theQur'an,Salawat, Kalima Tayyibah, and seek forgiveness.

As for the other narrations concerning the 15th ofSha'baan(which are not believed authentic), the Hanafi scholar,ShaikhMulla 'Alee al-Qaaree (d.1014H) records some of thesehadith:

Also on this night the Doors of Mercy and Forgiveness areopenedwide, and those who sincerely grieve over and repent fortheir pastsins and seek forgiveness from Allah are pardoned andforgiven byAllah.
