The Great War - 1914-1918 - Man, Arms and Peace 6 circuits in Mons,Le Cateau and Cambrai that follow the traces of the Great War. Thiswas where the first battles of the war took place and would also bethe scene of the last fighting of the conflict. Meanwhile, forcivilians, 4 years of occupation left its mark on the populationsof entire towns. The themed circuits cover the different sites andrekindle memories that have often been lost in the mists of time. .1 – Legend of the Angels of Mons (Battle of Mons, 23rd August 1914)2 - The First and The Last (The Hundred Days Offensive, 11thNovember 1918) 3 – In wartime (The people of Mons during the war)En temps de guerre 4 – Battle of Le Cateau (26th August 1914) 5 –Battle of Cambrai (20th November – 7th December 1917) 6 – HundredDays Offensive (August-November 1918) An angel returns to visit thesymbolic sites and travels between the past and the present to helpthe visitor understand historical events. Who still remembers allthose soldiers and civilians who today are just names on plaquesand monuments that no-one stops to look at any more? Who betterthan the guardian angel of their memory…?
