Description

Does it annoy you that in Android 4.0 (ICS)andabove, the ability to unlink the Notification and Ringer volumehasbeen removed? It annoys the heck out of me! At night time Iwant mynotification volume muted, but my ringer volume turned upso I don'tmiss calls. It has bugged me so much since I switched toICS that Idecided to write an app to "work around" the issue.

So, what does the app do? Well when your phone rings orreceivesan SMS it tells the phone to ignore the system soundsettings inregards to notification volume/vibration, and uses thesettingsspecified within this app instead.

* Now With Blackberry style Sound Profiles! Something I'vebeenworking on forever!
* Now also with integration into Locale, Tasker and Llama!

Please don't just leave negative comments if you find issues, orsomething isn't working correctly. I have no way ofdirectlyreplying to them! PLEASE report them to [email protected]andI will squash any issues you encounter ASAP.

Note that this is a fully functional, time-limited trialversion. It lets you experience the full version of ICS+ EnhancedRingerControl for 48 hours (2 days). At that time, you can chooseif youwant to upgrade to the full version. When the applicationexpires,it will keep the current settings until the next time youlaunch theapplication, at which time it will automaticallydisable.

**Jellybean Users** It's confirmed working fine for many usersonJB - both 4.1.x and 4.2.x

Basic Instructions:

After installing the app, open it, then set your usualalertvolume (this affects emails/facebook/twitter/stuff like that)andwhether you want it to vibrate or not. Next, choose the volumeyouwant the ringer to be, and whether you want it to vibrate ornot. Then, choose the volume you want your SMS notification to beandwhether you want it to vibrate or not, then finally checkthe"enable" box in the bottom-right corner of the SMS box toenableit. At this point, when you receive a phone call or sms, itwillignore the notification volume settings, and use thesesettingsinstead.

At any time, you can decide whether to add the app tothenotification bar for easy access and to quickly see ifICS+Enhanced Ringer Control is enabled or not. Just check theboxlabelled "Show Icon in Notification Bar".

To disable ICS+ Enhanced Ringer Control, just launch theappagain and uncheck the last checkbox. The regularnotificationvolume settings will kick in as per normal.

Permissions Explained:
"RECEIVE SMS" - the app needs to know when you receive an SMSsothat it can apply the alternate sound settings temporarily

"READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY" - this is the permissionthattells the app that the phone is ringing. When this eventisdetected, it applies the alternate sound settings until thephonestops ringing.

"RECEIVE BOOT COMPLETED" - once the phone finishes bootingup, this permission allows the app to be aware of the reboot andstartitself up. You wouldn't want to have to remember to start theappevery time you reboot would you??

*** GO SMS PRO users, for ICS Enhanced Ringer Control to workforSMS you must do this -> In Go SMS Pro, go to Settings>Advanced > Receive Settings ... and uncheck "Disableothermessage notification". Then go into the stock SMS app, anddisablenotifications manually from in there. It "might" alreadybedisabled, but its worthwhile making sure.
