É um exemplo da tradição dasabedoriabíblica, e levanta questões de valores, comportamentomoral, osignificado da vida humana e conduta correta. O temarepetido é que"o temor de Deus (que significa submissão à vontadede Deus) é oprincípio da sabedoria". Sabedoria é elogiada por seupapel nacriação; Deus a adquiriu antes de tudo, e por meio dela deuordemao caos; e uma vez que os seres humanos têm vida eprosperidade,conforme a ordem da criação, a sabedoria é a essênciae a meta davida religiosa.
