Systematic theology is the divisionoftheology under systems that explain its various areas. Forexample,many books of the Bible give information about theangels.Systematic theology takes all the information about angelsfrom allthe books of the Bible, and organizes it into a system-angelology. That is what systematic theology is - organizingtheteachings of the Bible into categorical systems.

Systematic theology is a discipline whichaddressestheological topics one by one (e.g. God, Sin, Humanity)andattempts to summarize all the biblical teaching on eachparticularsubject. Sometimes called constructive theology or evendogmatictheology, the goal is to present the major themes (i.e.doctrines)of the Christian faith in an organized and orderedoverview thatremains faithful to the biblical witness.

Systematic theology integrates biblical, historicalandsometimes philosophical theology into its methodology. Itsmaingoal is to draw a clear description of what the Bible teachesabouta particular doctrine. Furthermore, systematic theology notonlylooks to biblically construct individual doctrines of theChristianfaith, but remains aware of the cause-effect relationshipof eachdoctrine. That is, on the one hand, if one doctrine ischanged,effects will take place in other areas of doctrine. On theotherhand, each doctrine has implications for other doctrines.Forexample, within the doctrine of Christ (i.e., Christology)thebelief in Jesus' resurrection means that we are not left inoursins (cf. 1 Cor 15:17). Jesus has conquered sin, and those whoarein Christ also experience this victory (cf. Rom 6).Moreover,Christians have a future hope that they too will beresurrected andexperience eternal life. These are just a few ofmany otherexamples of how each doctrine is interrelated to oneanother. Inthe end, systematic theology should naturally flow intopracticaltheology where the conclusions drawn from Scripture aremadeapplicable to the Church.
