Description

Die Gemeinde Rosendahl liegt im Norden desKreises Coesfeld im westlichen Münsterland und besteht seit dem 1.Januar 1975. Die drei Dörfer Darfeld, Holtwick und Osterwick, die890 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurden, bildeten früher alsselbständige Gemeinden den Amtsbezirk Osterwick.

Ursprünglich bezeichnete der Name Rosendahl eine Gemarkungzwischen Darfeld und Osterwick, wo in einer Senke (dael/dahl) eingünstiger Standort für Heckenrosen war; diese Gemarkung wurde biszur Aufteilung 1826 bzw. 1847 als gemeinsames Weideland vonDarfeldern und Osterwickern genutzt. Der Wille zur Gemeinsamkeitsollte denn auch vor allem durch die Übernahme dieses Namens unddie Führung eines neuen Wappens für die neue Gemeinde zum Ausdruckgebracht werden.

"Drei Dörfer zum Wohlfühlen!" - so lautet heute das MottoRosendahls. Wohl zurecht, denn die typisch münsterländischeDorfgemeinschaft ist in allen drei Ortsteilen weitgehend erhaltengeblieben, auch wenn die Dorfkerne mit der Kirche im Zentrum heutevon modernen Einfamilienhaus-Wohngebieten umgeben werden.

Die Gemeinde Rosendahl unterhält seit 1970 eine im Münsterlandeinzigartige, historische Partnerschaft mit der französischenGemeinde Entrammes. Im Oktober 1995 traten auch die beidenNachbarorte Forcé und Parné-sur-Roc der Partnerschaft bei.

The municipality maintains Rosendahl since 1970 in Münsterunique historic partnership with the French community Entrammes. InOctober 1995, the two neighboring towns of Forcé and Parné-sur-Rocjoined the partnership.
