Cablesizer is a free online tool for sizinglow voltage, insulated electrical cables. But from now on it isalso available as the android application. Sizing has beenperformed according to the following standards:

* NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC), 2011

* IEC 60364-5-52, Low voltage electrical installations - Part5-52: Selection and erection of electrical equipment - WiringSystems, 2009

Cable sizing should be easy and it should be automated. It is awell defined task and for most common scenarios, there should be noreason to do it manually by hand, or have to rely on integratedpower systems analysis packages like ETAP, PTW, etc. These appearto be two extremes, but unfortunately most practicing electricalengineers have to choose between them because there is no a thirdoption.
So with Cablesizer, we wanted to make an automated cable sizingtool that is both easy to use and completely transparent. You donot need any logins or password; just fire up Cablesizer and youcan start sizing right away. More importantly, all the reportsgenerated by Cablesizer include references to the relevant clausesin the standards, as well as the equations that are used tocalculate the results. So Cablesizer is not a black box - you cantake the results and check it independently against thestandards.
But remember that Cablesizer is just a tool and the old adageapplies - garbage in = garbage out. Therefore you need to at leastknow something about the fundamentals of cable sizing.
