Upholding the esteem of being theantecedent,the Department of Mining Engineering, IIT Kharagpur hasalwaysbelieved in the flow of practical knowledge with innovationasinspiration, which has rejuvenated the ancestral engineeringidealsinto the modern facts.

With this vision as guidance and zeal to keep pace withthedevelopments in the Mining and Geology industries, theDepartmentof Mining engineering initiated GREATSTEP (acronym forGeo-ResourceEngineering and Technology Students' Teachers' andEmployers'Partnership) in 2008 to create a common platform for allthebudding Mining engineers. The last six editions were filledwithmind churning challenges, several informative guest lecturesandworkshops aimed at the expansion of thoughts into theunexploredrealms of the field.

With an impressive plethora of events lined up, GREATSTEP 2014isall set with new and exalted levels of enthusiasm to march aheadasthe flag bearer to its legacy in all respects. As a continuationofpast years this year also we are bringing the new editionofGREATSTEP from 17th to 19th October 2014.
