마방진(魔方陳:magic square)은 가로, 세로 같은 칸수의 사각형을말한다.마방진 놀이는 이 칸 안에 다른 숫자를 넣어 가로, 세로, 대각선의 합이 같게 만드는 작업이다. 마방진은 가로,세로의칸수에 따라 홀수 마방진과 짝수 마방진으로 나뉜다. 마방진의 일반적인 해결 방법이 있으나, 이것을 가르쳐주기보다는아이들 스스로 여러 가지 시행착오를 거쳐 해결하도록 한다.
